Bill Gates admits using `Control-Alt-Delete` for login was a mistake

Microsoft chairman Bill Gates has confessed that setting 'Control-Alt-Delete' as a way to log in to Windows was a mistake.

According to Fox News, during a talk at Harvard, Gates said that there was an option to make a single button for such a command, but the IBM keyboard designer didn't want to give Microsoft one.

He said that something had to be done with the keyboard that was signaling to a very low level of software, to bring in the operating system one expects, instead of a funny piece of software that looks like a log in screen, and then listens to the password, adding that it was a mistake.

David Bradley, a designer of the original IBM PC, invented the ' Control-Alt-Delete' combo, the report said.

Bradley said that he may have invented it but it was Gates who made it famous.

He himself admitted that he did not know why they used the same command for log in, which was used to restart the computer, the report added.

A petition filed by cellular companies for lifting the ban on night packages has been accepted for hearing in Supreme Court of Pakistan.
While expressing its surprises over Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s decision, the court said that why PTA always believed that people would use the facility only for romantic chat.
It maybe recalled that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority had banned night packages that cellular companies offered. PTA had said that the ban was imposed after receiving complaints from Supreme Court of Pakistan, Standing Committee of the Parliament, senators, MNAs and subscribers regarding the promotion of vulgarity through night packages.
It merits mentioning here that Islamabad High Court had dismissed the petition filed by cellular companies against PTA’s decision after telcos had withdrawn their petition after Pakistan Telecommunication Authority produced transcripts of mobile call recordings it had intercepted during late-night conversation of consumers.
Telcos have now approached the Supreme Court with the plea to lift the ban on night packages, arguing that purpose of night packages was to facilitate people.
Petitioners requested the court to issue an interim order against the IHC verdict.
The PTA’s counsel informed the court that the authority’s human rights cell had received several complaints about the misuse of late night packages.

No relief in sight for quake survivors

Last Updated On 27 September,2013 About 1 hour ago
No rescue efforts were visible even four days after the earthquake

AWARAN (Dunya News) - Tens of thousands of survivors of earthquake waited for help in soaring temperatures Friday, as the death toll rose past 600 and anger grew at the slow pace of government aid.
More than 100,000 people made homeless by Tuesday s 7.7-magnitude quake spent a third night in the open or under makeshift shelters as response teams struggled to reach the remote region in the southwestern province of Baluchistan.
The sheer scale of the territory involved is daunting -- the population of Awaran is scattered over more than 21,000 square kilometres (8,000 square miles) of remote and rugged terrain -- and infrastructure is extremely limited, with few medical facilities or even roads.
The area is also home to Baluch separatist rebels waging a decade-long insurgency.
Meanwhile, chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)‚ Saeed Aleem said rescue and relief operations have been geared up on the directive of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to provide immediate relief to the quake-hit people in Balochistan.
In an interview‚ he said helicopters have also been pressed into service to ensure help to the victims on time.
He said an army hospital has been set up in Awaran to provide medical assistance to the injured people.
The NDMA chairman said the relief goods including tents‚ food items‚ medicine and drinking water are being distributed among the people affected by the quake.
Meanwhile‚ briefing newsmen in Quetta a Balochistan government spokesman Jan Mohammad Bulaidi said disruption of the communications system in the scattered populated and remote areas is hampering the rescue operation launched by the federal and provincial governments in collaboration with Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps.
He appealed to the federal government to allow international humanitarian organizations to initiate rescue and relief efforts on their own.
He said more than sixty doctors are providing medical aid to the injured people in Awaran and Kech districts.
Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority Hafiz Abdul Basit said that sixty-two trucks carrying two thousand six hundred ninety tents‚ five thousand three hundred blankets‚ two thousand nine twelve food packets and three thousand nine hundred water bottles and other essential items have been dispatched to the quake-hit districts.

Blast in govt employees bus kills 17 in Peshawar

Hospital officials said at least 35 wounded have been admitted.

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) - A blast on a bus carrying government employees in restive northwest Pakistan on Friday killed at least 17 people and wounded at least 35 others.
The incident happened in Peshawar, the main city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which has been hit by numerous bomb and gun attacks from the terrorists.

"The bomb was planted inside the bus. At the moment, the death of 17 people have been confirmed," Zahirul Islam, deputy commissioner of Peshawar, told AFP.

Nasir Durrani, the police chief of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, told reporters the remote-controlled bomb was planted at the back of the bus, which was taking government staff home to the town of Charsadda after work.
Durrani confirmed that 17 people have been killed and 43 wounded.
An eyewitness speaking said the blast was so powerful it threw victims  bodies clear of the vehicle and onto the roadside.
Footage showed the back of the bus reduced to a tangle of twisted metal by the force of the explosion.
Nine dead bodies have been taken to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar while eight bodies have been taken to a government hospital in Charsadda.
The target was government employees, Sahibzada Mohammad Anis, the commissioner of Peshawar, told AFP.
Peshawar lies close to Pakistan s lawless tribal districts along the Afghan border, which are a haven for Taliban and Al-Qaeda linked militants.
The umbrella Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) faction has led a bloody campaign against the Pakistani state in recent years, carrying out hundreds of attacks on security forces and government targets.
Two weeks ago Pakistan s main political parties backed the idea of peace talks with the militants, floated several times by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
But a series of attacks since then, including the killing of a senior army commander and a double suicide bombing on a Peshawar church that killed 82, have led many to question the strategy.
The TTP has denied it was behind the church bombing, but peace agreements with them in the past have quickly fallen apart.

SRK, Salman, Sachin Tendulkar and Dhoni's Income Tax accounts hacked

SRK, Salman, Sachin Tendulkar and Dhoni`s Income Tax accounts hacked

Friday, September 27, 2013 11:07 IST
By Santa Banta News
Mumbai Police, which is probing the alleged hacking by a CA student into Anil Ambani's e-filing of Income-Tax returns account, has stumbled upon another CA student who not only accessed the top industrialist's account, but also of popular cricketers and film stars including Sachin Tendulkar, M S Dhoni, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.

According to police, while probing the case of a Hyderabad-based young CA student hacking into the IT account of Anil Ambani, it emerged that the business tycoon's account was also fraudulently accessed from Noida.

"We questioned the girl if she had also accessed the account from Noida for which she replied in negative. She also denied knowing anybody from Noida," said Mukund Pawar, Senior Inspector at Cyber Cell of the crime branch, on Thursday.

The 21-year-old woman, who has been doing her chartered accountancy articleship at Manoj Daga & Company in Hyderabad, was booked under relevant sections of Information Technology Act on September 7, police said.

The probe took them to Vishal Kaushal Company, an accountancy firm in Noida, where CA student Sanchit Katiyal (22) was found to have hacked into Ambani's account, he said.

Sanchit, who is doing his articleship, was booked by the Cyber Crime Cell on September 16 and his computer and hard disks seized, Pawar added.

Like the Hyderabad-based girl, Sanchit had also out of curiosity hacked into Ambani's account on June 26. The accused first accessed the accounts of Shah Rukh and Salman on June 22, Dhoni's account on June 24 and then broke into Ambani's account. He again accessed Dhoni's account on June 28, and Sachin's account on July 4.

The modus operandi in both the cases was similar. The two had sent e-mails to the IT department seeking change in the password of the person whose account they planned to hack into.

The IT department then did the needful, a procedure that highlights the fragility of the department, says crime branch.

Using the new password, the duo accessed the accounts of the prominent personalities.

Both the accused are not yet arrested, said another police officer adding that, "the offences were bailable. We have plans to file the chargesheets at the earliest. And at the time of filing the chargesheets, we would place the duo under arrest."

What Marriage? Soha is in happy live-in relationship with Kunal

What Marriage? Soha is in happy live-in relationship with Kunal

Soha Ali Khan is in no hurry to take mom Sharmila Tagore's advice to tie the knot soon

Soha Ali Khan is in a happy live-in relationship with her beau of four years, Kunal Khemu. With her brother Saif Ali Khan already married, their mother Sharmila Tagore is hoping her daughter ties the knot soon. But Soha, it seems, is not in the mood to listen to her mother anytime soon.

Soha spills the beans that it is in fact Saif, who has warned her not to get married before turning 40. The actress feels a strong commitment in a relationship is more important than the institution of marriage itself.

She says, "We have taken a big step together of living-in, which is equivalent to being married. For me, that's the biggest step."

About defying her mother's wishes, Soha says, "She is a mother and she wants her child to settle down. But for me, moving together was the biggest step.

Marriage is not on my mind right now. Bhai also advises everyone to get married after turning 40," says the 34-year-old, who plays a journalist in her upcoming film, War Chhod Na Yaar. Saif and Kareena too shared a live-in relationship for five years before eventually getting married.

Actress Aditi Rao Hydari, who wll be seen opposite Akshay Kumar in upcoming release 'Boss', says her acting prowess impressed her co-star and she bagged the offer

Aditi, who will not be romancing Akshay in the film, said she is happy to share the screen space with him. "In this film there is no girl opposite him. When I first met him he said we thought you are simple, sweet girl next door but later they saw my photo shoot and found me glamorous. He found me hard working and talented and good actor," Aditi said.

"He (Akshay) said he saw potential in me and hence he chose me for the film. That was one of the biggest compliments that came from him. He said he has given break (work) to Katrina Kaif, Sonakshi Sinha and now me which is a great thing.

It was great fun working with Shiv Pandit.. People of same age group bond easily at various levels as they have same concerns," Aditi said.

For Aditi, year 2013 seems to be good as her performance was praised in 'Murder 3'. "I am glad that 'Murder 3' did well. I came across a statistic saying 'Chennai Express' is on number five and 'Murder 3' is on number six. And now I have 'Boss'. It has been a good and fun year," she said.

If people view wearing bikini as a problem then dirt is in their mind and not in mine. I am comfortable wearing a bikini. As long as people filming it are not going to make it cheap, I don t have a problem," she said.

The film is directed by Anthony D'Souza and also stars Shiv Pandit, Mithun Chakraborty, Danny Denzongpa and Ronit Roy. It releases on October 16.

Movie Review: The Grand Masti' Boys Are All Groin Up

Movie Review: The Grand Masti` Boys Are All Groin Up

Friday, September 13, 2013 14:44 IST
By Subhash K Jha, Santa Banta News
Starring: Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh, plus 6 starlets who are game.

Directed by Indra Kumar

Rating: *1/2

Is that Farhan Akhtar's Lucky 3 from Dil Chahta Hai standing under Indra Kumar's lucky tree from Dil?

We can re-christen Grand Masti as Dildo Chahta Hai. And if that sounds crude then wait till you see and hear what Indra Kumar's new cocksure comedy has in store for you. There is no pulling back from the black hole of luridness this time. The horny trio of boys from Indra Kumar's Masti are all groin up now.

They still continue to be obsessed with one part of their anatomy and two parts of the other gender's.

I remember many of Indra Kumar's film featured a particular tree which the director considers lucky. There is a tree here in Grand Masti too, where a rigid college principal hangs any student who looks with lascivious intent at the girls on the campus.

A spot of Agneepath in a film where life, strictly below the waist is not just hard. It's hard-to-get.

The three leering...sorry leading men who, ummmm, come together represent the spirit of defiant devil-may-care let's-just-stand-erect-and-stare skirt-chasing that seems at odds with the current save-women-from-rape mood of the country. If you feel movies that objectify women must be discouraged then you are advised to stay as far away from this horny farce as possible.

Lekin horny ko kaun taal sakta hai?

There are the comedies. Then there are the SEX comedies. Filled with innuendos, suggestive leery double-meaning dialogues that make us chuckle and giggle even if we are not the sort who like to exchange dirty jokes in the sms, Grand Masti has itself a ball at the expense of basic good taste.

The gags in Grand Masti unabashedly celebrate the puerile spirit of sms forwards. You know those jokes about women's breasts and men in a perpetual state of arousal that are exchanged among 12-year old boys who have just discovered the birds and the bees?

If you packaged those pssst-pssst jokes from your puberty in plenty of loud aggressive dialogues loaded with double meanings and oodles of close-ups of breasts of all shapes and sizes you'd get into the spirit of Grand Masti.

To their credit the three, er, boys Aftab Shivdasani, Vivek Oberoi and Ritesh Deshmukh, now in their mid-30s, get into the spirit of the sex-comedy full-on. Oh, they love talking dirty!

The one thing that works fully in this film's favour is it unabashed homage to horniness. Our three heroes are perpetually aroused. To prove it they emanate moans groans and sighs constantly.

They smack their lips and roll their eyes as though to remind us that some things in life, like skirt-chasing in films about men on the prowl, never change, even if you have a wife at home that you can't change.

Director Indra Kumar has never been a slave to subtlety. Here he pulls out all stops. He also pulls out other ummentionable objects that are defiantly pointed into our faces. Phallic objects abound. They come in all shapes and sizes.Take it or leave it.For the climactic eruption the director has all the male protagonists hanging by a ledge where the women must strip to create a rescue rope.

One really can't complain about the film's remarkably steep level of innuendos. Not a single member of the audience for Grand Masti expects anything but coarse humour borrowed from low-brow Gujarati plays.

Writer Milap Milan Jhaveri's wickedly wanton word-play leaves no space for subtlety in the script. There is repeated humour about a woman with over-sized breasts repeatedly offering the guys a `free darsha of her `dono doodh ki factory.

Stand-up comedian Suresh Menon shows up as a mock-villain wearing a golden underwear whose roominess keep inflating and deflating according to the mood.Early on in this pubescent homage to hard-ons Menon gets the privilege of walking up to a woman and sheathing her umbrella with a condom.

The obscenity flows out unstopped, unchecked, uncaring of rudimentary rules of decency. Having declared this to be irreverent territory director Indra Kumar doesn't really care how lowbrow the humour gets. And the jokes happily really plumb to unimaginable depths. In one sequence the writing crackles and hisses with pleasure as Shivadsani gets his private parts bitten by a cat called, hold your breath, Pussy.

What can be said about the writing when the three ladies whom the married heroes make out with are named Rose, Mary and Marlow, only so that their names can together sound like `roz-meri-mar-lo, meaning, very crudely, bang me every day.

Ha ha ha, to that.

If mammary...sorry, memory serves me correctly the same Rose-Mary,joke was used in that other recent tribute to lewdness Kya Super-Cool Hain Hum.

I guess the smut society is smitten by the same sms jokes.

More than the boys I salute the three pairs of ladies playing the trio of gharwallis and baaharwallis for surrendering to the sexually suggestive spirit of the proceedings. A woman really needs to have nerves of steel to refer to her breasts as, `doodh ki factory.`

The writing and direction in a film such as this is either a sign of absolute innocence about political correctness or indicative of an obstinate disregard for all good taste.

Take your prick...I mean, pick.

Dead man's spirit still seems to follow Salman even after 11-years. In September 2002, Salman was allegedly driving a Toyota Land Cruiser that ran over a group of people sleeping on the pavement outside a bakery in suburban Bandra. One person was killed and four others were injured in the accident.

On Tuesday a Mumbai sessions court heard three applications in the hit and run case. On Salman's plea on unfair media coverage of the case, the court orally directed that the media should report on the case in a fair manner.

While hearing activist Santosh Daundkar's plea to transfer false evidence case from Bandra to the sessions court, the court said it did not have suo moto powers to transfer the case.

On Activist Abha Singh's plea to assist the Public Prosecutor the court said it could be considered only at the final arguments stage.

Salman Khan is being tried for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. A Mumbai sessions court framed charges against the popular Bollywood actor on July 24, 2013. Mr Khan had earlier been charged with a lesser offence of causing death by rash and negligent driving, which would have carried a maximum punishment of only two years in jail.

Eleven years ago, in September 2002, Mr Khan was allegedly driving a Toyota Land Cruiser that ran over a group of people sleeping on the pavement outside a bakery in suburban Bandra. One person was killed and four others were injured in the accident.

A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit southwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, killing at least 30 people in Awaran, besides creating a new island off the Gwadar coastline in Balochistan in its wake, Express News reported.
Tremors were felt as far as the Indian capital New Delhi.
The quake struck at 4:29 pm local time (1129 GMT) around 100 kilometres (60 miles) southwest of the city of Khuzdar in Balochistan province, at a depth of 15 kilometres.
USGS originally measured the earthquake at magnitude 7.4 and 29 kilometres deep but later revised their figure. Pakistan’s meteorological office gave the magnitude as 7.7.
On the Gwadar coastline, the quake created a small island about half a mile into the sea near an area called ‘Jhanda’, according to Express News.
The newly appearing island is said to have a mountainous terrain rising up to a hundred feet. A large crowd was seen gathering at the site to see the new island.
The area of the epicentre is sparsely populated, but the USGS issued a red alert for the quake, warning that heavy casualties were likely, based on past data.
A senior Pakistani meteorologist, Muhammad Riaz, told Dunya TV station it was a “major” earthquake and “heavy destruction” was likely.
Minor tremors were felt as far away as New Delhi, while office workers in the city of Ahmedabad near the border with Pakistan ran out of buildings and into the street.
Mumtaz Baluch, senior local administration official in Awaran district, 350 kilometres southwest of Quetta, told AFP: “There are reports of houses being collapsed in the district due to earthquake.”
“We have dispatched our teams to the affected area to ascertain the losses.”
In April a 7.8-magnitude quake centred in southeast Iran, close to the border with Baluchistan, killed 41 people and affected more than 12,000 on the Pakistan side of the border.
People working in offices Karachi rushed out of their building and sat on the footpaths along the roads or stood away from the buildings.
“My work table jerked a bit and again and I impulsively rushed outside,” Noor Jabeen, a 28-year woman working for an insurance company said while breathing heavily.
“It was not so intense but it was terrible,” said Owais Khan, who works for a provincial government office.
“Whenever I feel jolts it reminds me of the 2005 earthquake in Kashmir,” said Amjad Ali, 45, IT official standing on the road said.
