Karachi case: Sindh Chief Secretary submits report in SC

A five-member larger bench is hearing the case at SC's Karachi Registry.

KARACHI (Web Desk) - Sindh Chief Secretary today (Thursday) submitted a report before the apex court regarding ongoing targeted action in the violence-hit metropolis.
A five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is hearing the case at Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry.
Inspector General Sindh, Additional Inspector General Sindh and Director General of Sindh Rangers are also present in the court.
It is said in the report that over one thousand criminals including target killers‚ extortionists and those involved in heinous crimes have been arrested.
Advocate General Sindh Shahadat Awan informed the court that law and order situation in the city has gradually improved after the targeted action against criminals by Rangers and police.
Moreover, Rangers have been given control of one police station in five districts of the city.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry remarked that nobody is above the law and action should be taken against the killers of witnesses in various cases.
The case hearing is underway.
