Ishq Garaari's story revolves around an 'unrecognised' writer and singer, Sherry Mann (Sherry Mann) who lives in a village and is eager to get his songs recorded. He is supported in his efforts by his girlfriend, who is the daughter of a rich transporter. He owns 10 Tempos (Bhoonds) but his more famous for his beautiful daughters. Sweety (Mandy Thakar) is obsessed with the Miss Pooja's fame and wants to become a singer like her. While the family wants her to get married and settle down.
The two aspiring singers Sherry Mann and Sweety, living in the same village are brought together by a weird plot in which Sweety is kidnapped by Sherry Mann and his comedian friend Boondi. During captivity, Sweety hears Sherry singing and writing and wants to know who is writing songs for him because she is also looking for a good lyricist for herself.
In parallel plot, Sweety's sister, flees from home as she doesn't to get married as per her family's wish and comes across Jassi Gill. However, the booty of Rs 70 lakh meant for kidnappers is mistakenly carried by her. Well known Punjabi singer Miss Pooja has a sort of double role. One as Sweety's imaginary sister, who guides her at all times, since Sweety suffers from hallucinations where she imagines that Miss Pooja, her ideal, is all along with her and talking to her.
The director and the story writer bring real Miss Pooja appear before the two aspiring singers which ends the hallucinations of Sweety. Sherry Mann and Sweety embrace each other, before the curtains fall.
The comedy is mainly situation and the absence of an established comedian is highly felt. The cinematography is at par with Bollywood movies and the characters do justice to their roles but the plot fails miserably. The choreography is alright and the songs were pretty good since they are sung by established singers in Sherry Maan, Miss Pooja and above all, by Yo Yo Honey Singh. The direction (according to the script) was pretty flawless.
If you are a teenager and love Punjabi cinema, go, run and watch Ishq Garaari released worldwide today. It will fascinate you. But the mature ones surely need to avoid if they love serious and meaningful cinema. The first show went house-full at the Piccadilly Mall in Chandigarh with uproarious youngsters dancing with the songs and music of the film.
